My favorite typical food”
Different kinds of dishes make Peru one of the best known countries around the world because it has a variety of them with excellent flavors and tastes. Every city has a typical dish. One of my favorites is Chupe de camarones. I like it for many reasons.
First, Chupe de camarones (made with crayfish) is widely popular among the Southern coastal region of Peru (originally from Arequipa). Although the original recipe calls for crayfish, shrimp chupe has become more widely eaten, as fresh or frozen shrimp become more common. The preparation consists of cooking potatoes and onions in butter, then adding various spices, such as chilli powder. Then, water, tomatoes, and sometimes chicken broth are added. Before serving the broth, it is mixed with milk or cream.
Second, it brings me my mind one of the most beautiful places where I’ve been, “Arequipa”. I remembered that there was a time when I wanted to be adventurer and to try new experiences. My family and I went to Arequipa. So, I decided to ask for that dish. I was the only one. I remembered that my relatives were telling me to give them a part of it to try.
Third, I would probably serve this dish in a special day. Obviously, first of all I’d have to learn how to do it very well. I’m not a cook, but I think I can learn. It is one of the best ones. Therefore, I’ll have to learn how to cook it.
As a conclusion, chupe de camarones is a mix of many ingredients that makes it one of the best dishes of Peru and the best one of Arequipa.
